Fairy is a mythical being of folklore and romance usually having magic powers and dwelling on earth in close relationship with humans in European Folklores. It can appear as a small creature typically having green clothes and hair, living underground or in stone heaps, and characteristically exercising magic powers to benevolent ends.
Fairy has at times been used as an adjective, with a meaning equivalent to "enchanted" or "magical".

As a diminutive sprite commonly in the shape of a delicate, beautiful, ageless winged woman dressed in diaphanous white clothing, inhabiting fairyland, but making usually well-intentioned intervention in personal human affairs; or as a tiny, mischievous, and protective creature generally associated with a household hearth.
In Scottish folklore, fairies are divided into the Seelie Court (more beneficently inclined, but still dangerous), and the Unseelie Court (more malicious). While fairies of the Seelie Court enjoyed playing generally harmless pranks on humans, those of the Unseelie Court often brought harm to humans for entertainment. These categories may reflect an earlier (medieval) classification of the Germanic elves of light and darkness (Ljósálfar and Dökkálfar)
"I think if you are going [to go] looking for magic, you will find magic." - Neil Gaiman
W.B. Yeats divided fairies into 3 classification :
Solitary fairies
Live alone and are inclined to be wicked and malicious creatures, except for beings such as the brownie who is said to help with household chores.
The trooping fairies
Contain the aristocracy of the fairy world, including the Irish Aos Sí. They are known as trooping faeries because they travel in long processions, such as the one from which Tam Lin was rescued. But the trooping fairies also include other fairies of lesser importance; a trooping fairy can be large or small, friendly or sinister.
Household Spirits
Usually found as single entities in a household. These household spirits are not necessarily solitary, however, because they have also been found to be participants in a few trooping activities.
